Wish-Wingèd Worldman Tiga and Munich superproducer Zombie Nation are back to transport you somewhere between Tampa Bay and Tampa Beyond with the new ZZT single “The Worm”.
Warmly encouraging “up-and-coming” Mutant/Producers to refrain from foisting their braindeath coma fantasies on the world, the release also features Erol Alkan’s eagle-eyed mind’s ear on an extended rework.
The collaboration was a natural one, as Tiga was a public champion of Zombie’s Black Toys LP, while Zombie magnanimously tolerated Tiga’s deep vocal loosehouse epic “M’Unique (Won’t Play That Shame Game Again, No)”.
The song itself secretes a thick, grassy oil onto the club floor, creating a rich, profoundly damp environment for rock dancing, searchingly soulful head-nods and murder from beyond the grave.
Roused from the psychic abyss where he toils daily to defend our realm from the Inevitable, Tiga says, “The track is ‘earthy’ in the same way our very world is ‘earthy.’ All moist browns and feminine longing. Can we in these times of 2008 be whisked away to a place of beaded centaurs and wonderful villages? I daresay yes, and I dare to say yes”.

Mr. James Barth
"So deep you'll need scuba gear."
In Jori’s words:
In 1995 me and my friend Ari of Lumi records realized it maybe was actually a waste time to try to run a dance label with no experience from the north of Finland. Indeed. Instead, it might be a smart idea just to focus on making music and find a label that was already established and have them put the music out.
Swedish radio had a show at the time called "Tema: Dans", and they would have some guest DJ's coming over and doing their thing. Usually more traditional housey stuff, but one Wednesday evening Calle had a guest that blew my mind: Cari Lekebusch.
Playing what could've been jacking Chicago traxx, but somehow it was all different... and as it turned out it was mostly done by what the world would become to know as the Stockholm Techno Gods; Cari, Adam Beyer, Jesper Dahlbäck, Alexi Delano, Joel Mull, Jean-Louis Huhta, et al -and all their aliases.
Impressed by all this I sent Cari a letter (yes, a handwritten one) with a democassette of some of my tracks telling him how I had heard all this music on the radio and since his name (Cari, not Lekebusch) implied a Finnish connection he might be interested in expanding his empire eastbound.
A week later I received a letter from Cari simply stating "You're definitely not faking the funk" and a phonecall followed a few days later and a friendship was established. My friends Ari Ruokamo and Tuomas Salmela also sent tracks to Cari and he was quite excited about this northern Finnish sound and even started a new label called Trainspotter's Nightmare to release our stuff on.
Of all the music Cari himself has done my favourite is maybe the Mr Barth stuff. Slightly less abstract than some of his other more experimental techno, but easily as uncompromising, and on some levels more open minded with a certain crossover potential.

The first installment in a new series where we take an old favorite from our back catalog, explain why it's amazing and then give it away for free. Great deal for us!
I know very little about Robert Calvin except that he put some other stuff out on Gigolo, he's from Madrid and his real name is Roberto... God knows why he dropped the 'o' in his name, or what happened to him after he put out his incredible EP 'Methods of Dance' (Turbo 021), all I know is that this is a simple, effective acid record that deserves to be heard by all you children of the blog. Enjoy!
Love from Montreal,

Zyntherius, aka Jori Hulkkonen has a message for you all:
"When I was a child I dreamt about being a god.
When I grew up I realized I could become one.
In 2000 I noticed that the post for the god of synthesizers was not taken. I didn't even have to apply for the job. No real god would have to do that. I just declared myself as ZYNTHERIUS - the god of synthesizers.
Nowadays I'm feeling much better, but occasionally I still get the urge.
Which is why you should be aware of the wrath of Z and respect the holy Oscillators."
